Valburge is built on a lug sole, which is the part worth paying attention to. Deep tread blocks give grip on loose and uneven ground in a way a flat rubber sole does not, and the raised platform they create lifts the foot further off cold pavement. The shaft runs mid-calf and pulls on without laces to fight in gloves.
Three colours. Black is the one that will stay looking presentable longest through a messy winter. Khaki is warmer in tone and works against olive, cream and denim. Blue is the most distinctive and lifts an otherwise dark cold-weather outfit. All three are cut to be worn with jeans tucked in, with thick socks, or with leggings and a long coat over the top.
Sizes run US 4 through 11, one of the widest ranges here, including a US 4 that most boots skip entirely. These run true to size, but winter boots get worn over heavier socks, so the half size up is worth considering. The chart below gives each size in EU and UK with the matching foot length. Measure rather than guess if you sit between two.
