Helewys is a faux fur coat with a stand collar, and it is the most striking piece of outerwear in the collection. Faux fur is bought for one reason, presence, and the stand collar is what sharpens it: instead of a soft shawl line it frames the face and keeps the whole coat looking deliberate rather than nostalgic.
Black only, which is the right restraint. A black faux fur reads modern where a coloured one reads costume, it photographs cleanly under evening light, and it goes over everything from jeans to a full-length dress without argument. It is also the colour that makes the texture rather than the shade the feature.
Sizes run XS through XL. This is an evening and occasion coat more than a daily one, so the fit is less about layering and more about the line over what you are wearing. Faux fur should never be pressed or tumble dried. The chart below gives body measurements in inches.
