Ermentrude is a slip-on ankle boot in faux suede with a fleece lining, and the appeal is how little it asks of you. No laces, no zip, no buckles. You step into it and leave. For school runs, dog walks, bin trips and the hundred small errands that make up a winter day, that matters more than any detail on the outside of a boot.
Beige and black. Beige is the softer of the two and the one that reads more expensive than it is, working with cream, camel and grey. Black is the practical choice and hides winter pavements better. Both are cut low enough at the ankle to wear under jeans, and the suede finish keeps them looking softer than a smooth leather-look boot would.
Sizes run US 4.5 through 12 including every half size, sixteen steps. This one sits on our price floor. Suede needs different care from everything else here, so the instructions below differ from the rest of the range. A fleece lining also takes up room inside, so take the larger size if you are between two.
